Research on racism and preeclampsia is complex, deeply human, and hard to show without becoming literal. For this cover concept, I built a visual language around metaphor. Thorns and vascular forms suggest the cumulative impact of daily discrimination, while the surrounding structures reference institutional forces. The final artwork was selected for Hypertension’s July 2026 cover.
